Hi Lee,
Have you done any inquiries into where this case stands currently? Is it considered closed, still active, inactive? Have you reached out to anyone in the last couple of years?

Thanks,
Cathie

Cathie,
I will call the AG’s office tomorrow & ask who is assigned Mike’s case now. I know it is not closed. I have not contacted the AG’s office in the last 4 years. Does it make a difference whether you can look into the case if there has been no work done on it for some time? I hope not. I will contact the AG’s office tomorrow & ask some questions.

Thank you.
Lee

Hi Lee,
First, please let me say you have done an exemplary job of sending us information.  As a mother, I cannot imagine the pain this has put you through being in your position. You will never hear me pretend to know or presume to guess the impact and toll this has taken on you and your family. I am analyzing and organizing what you have sent. Do you have any contact currently with any investigative agency at all? Is the DA open to speaking with us?  I am trying to see where we are from an investigative perspective.

Thanks,
Cathie

Dear Cathie,
I am having a hard time believing that someone is going to look at Mike's murder. I hyperventilated when I got your email asking for information. I have been alone working on Mike's case for more than 41 years. I did write a book (I am no author) thinking I would get something from that. The only person who advertised my book was a lady who has a website named Defrosting Cold Cases. (She did a review of my book and put her review of my book on her website.) I am so very thankful to her. She found a lady in Australia who said she would help me but she just stopped responding.
I will be 86 (now 88) in 17 days and I have lived Mike's murder every day since his death. I have prayed for some resolution before I die. I suffer pain because the men who killed Mike were allowed to walk free and live their lives. I believe the detectives on Mike’s murder case obstructed justice. I brought a lawsuit against the man with Mike the night he was murdered and was seen by the fire chief fleeing into the woods when he arrived on the scene. And the Maine Attorney General’s Office hired my attorney 11 days before trial and the lead detective on Mike’s murder case was allowed to testify for Paul Pollard. I lost my case. I know I am Mike’s mother but I’ve faced some difficult times with Maine law officials. Perhaps you will get another view of the case. Just to have someone else look at the case. I will accept your result, Cathie.

I cannot thank you enough!

Thank you,
Lee
